    Lakme Fashion Week: Day 4

    DSC04963

I looked much better outside the Hyatt loo when the tiles didn’t match my clothes.

Dress: I do tend to wear solids a lot and bought this dress to try and wear prints. It was hard. My grouse with summer dresses made for the Western market is that they are always too revealing and what’s the point of a sun dress if you have to fucking layer it. Inside is a jade tank with a shelf bra.

    DSC04964

Jacket: Cotton World had the ideal denim jacket for me. I’m partial to dark washes and slim fits.

Shoes: Another flavour of gladiators. I prefer sandals/chappals as daily wear, and gladiators just take this to a new level.

Accessories: This scrumptious blue bead wreath, Seiko watch, a wooden bangle and silver kada from Amrapali.

I love the jacket and the dress. The dress is lovely. I love the dress. I’m going to show this picture to my husband. Hopefully he’ll get the hint. I love the dress.

If your husband is like my husband, he’ll think you’re asking to make a baby! He calls it the pregnancy dress…

    Lakme Fashion Week: Day 3

    DSC04905

Shirt: This was a great billowing shirt with a sash that I was attracted to just because of the buttons and material (This is the real Puffy Shirt, G). It looked like maternity wear, so I tore off the sash, soaked it in water, twisted it and left it to dry to get the crush effect.

Jeans: Ink blue Levi’s in a narrow, straight cut.

Belt: The middle one from Colaba Causeway.

Shoes: Attention grabbing gladiators. This bunch has been the best addition to my wardrobe in the recent past. I think I’ll stick with flats.

Accessories: Titan watch and silver chain from Etsy.com.

    DSC05004

Again, not a very remarkable outfit even by my standards, but it made me feel put-together without discomfort or anxiety.

You’ll float in it! I’ll go see if they have a smaller size. Other colours will do, right?

    Lakme Fashion Week: Day 2

    DSC04896

I didn’t intend to go to the shows on Saturday, and so dressed without thinking much. When I reached office, I was sent marching to LFW with no preparation but the clothes on my back.

Top: A pleated shirt with a funnel, drawstring collar and a drawstring waist. I bought it because I’m consciously trying to wear new silhouettes. Rs 150 from Colaba Causeway. Under it, I wore a grey spaghetti donated by sister-in-law S (SIL S). The collar kept doing interesting things all day.

    DSC04895

Pants: The free Victoria Beckham skinny jeans which I wore only because I want to wash them on Sunday. I may be slowly coming round to skinny jeans.

Shoes: Extremely comfortable masculine chappals, also inherited from SIL S.

Bag: It saved the day. If I had carried my usual back-pack, I would have felt underdone. It’s from Rumours in Bandra for Rs 600.

Accessories: A wooden bangle, a thread bangle and the Casio watch.

    Lakme Fashion Week: Day 1

    DSC04880

Last week, I was covering the Lakme Fashion Week, a sartorially trying and intimidating time. Obviously, I dressed down.

Pants: Seven-year-old pocket-less Hang Ten slacks.

Top: Deep-necked and balloon sleeved top from Cotton World. I realise that most of my tops are in the pre-2005 length, i.e. too short. This is one of the few that isn’t and since it’s longer, it’s slimming and balances my torso and legs. I should really try and get with it.

Stole: This was the piece I built my outfit around. When in doubt, I focus on uniqueness. It’s my mother’s raw cotton dupatta which I stole when I was 12 or 13. She still doesn’t know. I’m mesmerised by the colour, texture and gold checks.

Shoes: Since the rest of my outfit was so dark, I wore the golden huaraches to bring out the accents in my stole/dupatta. I checked at Aldo’s yesterday and these are still on sale. For Rs 2,050. Ahem.

Accessories: A huge statement ring (I don’t know what the stone is called) and the automatic Seiko watch. A very plain, dark brown bag from Esprit which has an adjustable handle.

    Inopinate – September 28

I have a confession to make. I am a clothes-hoarder. When I buy something new, I don’t wear it until I find the right occasion and the right things to combine it with. I bought this skirt back in May, and I could not find a top to go with it so I hoarded it all summer. But now that fall is almost here, I had to break it out.

    From Style Per Diem

Skirt: A linen-cotton blend, faux wrap pencil skirt. Who knew such a thing existed! It has an amazing fit and just the right length. It curves in all the right places and stays put all day. I wore it to work, but I can see myself wearing it on the weekend or to a casual dinner as well.

Top: A simple knit turtleneck with short sleeves, from Zara. I love the color, but I am still not happy with this to go with the skirt. The sweater would have been a much better choice if it were navy blue. I can live with this for now. In itself, the sweater was a great find. It is the lightest knit and works really well for fall.

Shoes: I went with my grey pointy ones again.

Accessories: Silver necklace with a geometric pendant from Fossil, and the Skagen chronograph.

      What a great skirt! WAH!

I just resisted buying a metallic one like this from ASOS. Where would I wear a silver skirt?

    • Shweta 3:05 pm on October 8, 2009 Permalink | Reply

@ ET:You could have worn the metallic skirt at Lakme Fashion week!!!

    • Educated Tatya 3:28 pm on October 8, 2009 Permalink | Reply

That was my justification too. But ASOS still hasn’t delivered the clothes I ordered a month ago. So pat on the back for me. But sniffles in the heart.

    Winter Fashion

    starts from here….

seems like there is no fall in Canada anymore, it was 20 degrees yesterday and all of sudden dropped down to 8 degrees and I had to have scarf, cardigan, boots, and jackets on.

The grey cardigan is from FCUK and it is very useful, you can wear it in the summer, and in the winter. The graffiti jeans is from Zara, and it is a very soft cotton material so I am not sure if it is good for winter. Slightly thin though.

    Boots as usual from UGG.

Scarf is from Louis Vuitton. It’s a gift from my mom.

You pull off cardigans so well. The few times I’ve tried them, I look like a scarecrow.

    • Ella Renee 3:49 am on October 2, 2009 Permalink | Reply

      Thanks.
This cardigan is actually an oversized one, so it won’t look too serious on me.
Because I have a slightly chubby body so I can’t wear anything that’s too tight on me tha shows my shape. You can try those Zara cardigans, they are perfect for you and they are not too long and not too overwelmed, I am sure you will look good in it.
