    Surfacing…

Life has been far too hectic to even remember to take pictures let alone update…but here I am!

I can’t remember why or where I wore each outfit, but I’m picking a random point in time and starting there…

I believe this was in late fall, early winter. I call it my H&M mannequin look – super layered up with a naughty boy edge…

    From Style Per Diem

The jeans: Super dark wash, slim fit, back flap pocket jeans with contrast stitching. Good for tucking into boots.

The jacket: Previously worn black linen blazer with quarter sleeves.

The various layers: I layered a white cami with lace detailing at the neck, under a black deep V cotton stretch sweater, over which I wore a BRIGHT blue crop zip up hoodie with cable knit sleeves.

The boots: My regular black impermeable Hush Puppies.

Accessories: I left in all the usual silver and swapped out the small bali’s for larger silver hoops.

I think the layers worked for me, especially since the jacket and crop sweater were the same length. I’m very small and bulking up like this does not make me look out of proportion. I like the idea of layering hoodies with blazers for some reason and the blue popped out against the otherwise almost monochromatic scheme.

Awesome. I like how you are so layered yet so streamlined. When I do layers, I invariably look like a bum.

Because I was adamant I won’t buy a dress just for a Christmas party, I dug out this from my closet. I bought this dress at Windsor (LA) back in 2006.Its a lovely holiday white with navy blue pattern.
Shoes: Patent leather sling backs from Naturalizer
    Bag: Nine West

Love the neck detail. The length is perfect.

    shift dressing

I wore this to a client meeting to discuss a project. I wasn’t sure if it was perhaps too formal because often in design environments everyone’s dressed in jeans and flip flops. But it fit in ok, I think, with the vibe of the place. Since it wasn’t an interview, I could dress it down anyways.

dress: simple black shift dress from uniqlo with a fold detail a little below the neck. I love the versatility of this. I had only wore this once because I got somewhat uncertain of the shape but I like it more now.

sweater: chunky knit cardigan from calvin klein. This has a great knit detail on the back and it has a circular sort of shape which is quite flattering. I have been wearing this a lot. It seems to go well with everything.

shoes: black real leather shoes from jeffrey campbell.

accessories: black wool stockings, super fun orla kiely bag, retro gold timex.

I like how you do monotones. And the pattern on your sweater resonates the pattern on the bag!

I love the look and the bag is so playful..perfect compliment to the rest of the outfit. I can’t really get a good look at the shows though.
Good observation ET..and dats exactly why you are a style diva!!
I’m almost jealous that you get to be so casual at work…we’re required to be so starched and stiff..Bah!!

    Love from NYC

    Posing, originally uploaded by AparnaSathi.

Finally!! Ok lets talk about this!
Top: Or should I say Tops…because I have three basic GAP turtleneck tops under a basic black Ann Taylor V neck cardigan. New York was warmer than we expected so I decided I’ll ditch my peacoat. But the temp dropped to 20F and I was so glad I was carrying this wrap. Its from Lepakshi, Hyderabad.
Jeans: Skinny Jeans from GAP. I’m pear shaped so I stay away from Skinny jeans but I took a chance here!
Boots: This is my fav part. These boots are from Naturalizer. The only brand I can trust for both fashion and comfort. If you’re only hearing about this brand from me, you’ll be glad you read this post..These boots are non leather with about 2.5 inch heels. Its Unbelievable how light and comfortable these are!
Accessories: Shades from Coach and bag from Kohls.

Very nice! I love the throw. What colour are the three turtle-necks inside? All B&W?
