Wore this to quick dinner yesterday and then to work today.
Romper: Promod via Colaba Causeway: Rs 200. I like how it’s short without being juvenile. I had my reservations about it, but I don’t look like I’m trying too hard. Or do I?
Chappals: I’m not too comfortable with overt sexiness, so took the edge off with my Steve Zissou kolhapuris.
Accessories: Seiko watch and this fantastic Jhola Co. canvas bag from OMO for Rs 610.
It all started with the shoes. I wanted another chance to wear these brogues that Faye brought down for me.
Top: Dolman sleeve white tee: Rs 150; Colaba Causeway. I’m happy to report, nothing that I’ve bought in the last few months is ‘basic’. I’m shifting with the decade.
Pants: Roll-ups for Rs 300 from Fashion Street. The brand escapes me right now. I’ll update later. I chose these not only to showcase the shoes, but also because they are damn comfortable.
Accessories: Wooden and silver kadas and a Seiko watch
Shoes: From Clarks. I bump and grind them when no-one’s looking.
I tappity-tapped all day.
How do you manage to get such well fitting pants from Fashion Street.Where do all these things go when I go shopping.Why don’t I have the eye to pick up such things.Why why.

This is what I wore to a movie date and then a working Sunday. When I work on Sunday, I protest by wearing whatever the fuck I want — shorts, pajamas, frothy princess dresses.
Dress: Topshop maxi. I think this salmon pink/peach colour is going to dominate the summer lines. I’ve seen a lot of sample pieces in this colour around the city and since I can’t find them on the brands’ website, I think they are for the next season. I love the mul and the abject flowy-ness. I pulled it up a bit so I wouldn’t trip
Top: It’s Kate Moss for Topshop sample and buttoned up, it looks a little… umm… of a pao-aunty disposition. But I love florals, so I wore it like an over-shirt which played down the shoulder frills, I think.
Chappals: Gold huaraches
Accessories: Belt, gold hoops and men’s Casio. I though gold went better than silver with this colour.
Top: Safari shirt from Cotton World. Bought about two years ago for Rs 600-something. Under it is a tube top from Topshop, bought off FS for Rs 200. Too hot for a jacket, so I threw on the shirt.
Jeans: Free Victoria Beckham skinnies
Shoes: Dansko sandals inspired by Nidhi, facilitated by Ketaki
Accessories: Square Casio men’s watch and some bangles, I think. The bag that I use every day, is this one.
It’s capacious and the handle length in just right to reduce shoulder strain, plus it turns into a cross-body bag when I need my hands free. I saw it on the Anthropologie website and almost rationalised the price. But could I justify spending Rs 10,000 on a bag? I lovingly wrote down the measurements, took screenshots of every angle, laid it out in Quark and took to a guy in Dharavi. He built it with soft foam leather, trimmed it with real leather and charged me Rs 1,500.
I’ve been a bit inspired this week, clothes-wise and been wearing things I would normally be diffident about. After the aesthetic famine of January and February, I’m devouring Causeway and Fashion Street FS). Mission to abstain from shopping in May has fabulously failed.
I’m making a conscious effort to wear what I buy almost immediately and use up every thing lying in my wardrobe.
You can do that?? Custom make bags in Dharavi?Any particular shop or anyone will do it for you?

Maxi: I first wore this maxi at the Swasta Ani Masta garage sale held a few months ago, and made so much money at my stall that I’ve come to think of it as my soliciting dress. Bought solely for the colour, it’s from Colaba Causeway for about Rs 250.
Accessories: I chose not to wear anything around my neck because I thought it would crowd the plaited circle. I’m wearing a silver kada from Amrapali, an engraved bangle from Egypt and two shell and brass bangles. I forgot to take off the Casio G-Shock I wear to the pool and am wearing silver balis in my ears.
Shoes: Gold huaraches for Rs 200 from Bandra’s Hill Road.
I was running to work and didn’t want to co-ordinate top-pants-shoes, so pulled this out and it worked. I don’t usually wear something this revealing at work, but it was just one of those days when I couldn’t care less.
I covered up at work with a Kashmiri dorakh shawl.
At one point, the boob sling was peeking, which looked tacky. Then I thought: Abhi woh bade hogaye hai. Apni balbute pe khade rah sakte hai, so I yanked it out. They didn’t let me down.
